Thankful Thursday! - Garden Goddesses

I have a beautiful friend named Haily who works in a flower shop near my apartment. After Valentines day, they had tons and tons of flowers that they were unable to sell any more, and they were all on their way to the trash . . . that is, until Haily saw the discarded decor and asked if she could just bring them home. They were surprised she would want to take the big mess, but they let her have it - and boy, am I glad they did!
This was not even HALF the flowers she got!

Last Friday, my fiends and I had a sleepover, and part of the nights festivities (well, the entirety of the nights festivities) was making Floral Crowns!!!!

I have never made floral crowns before, so it was a lot of fun!!

After a night of staying up until seven in the morning . . . we met back up Saturday afternoon to take beautiful pictures in our flowers. Because we are legit actually fairy queens.

Here are just a few of the lovely pictures taken that day . . .

 How to Make Floral Crowns
-Select a pliable, leafy stem plant to create the base wreath of the floral crown. (Make sure it is long enough and will not dry out too quickly. We used both Italian Ruscus and Isreali Ruscus)
-Fit base plant to head and tie together by wapping wire around the over lapping ends.
- Cut off any extra length off the end of the wreath, but make sure there is a good amount overlapping.

-To prepare roses, cut off rose stems closely to base of the flower
- Pull off the sepal (the leafy things at the base of the rose) so the glue can adhere better to the flower

-Preparation for different kinds of flower may vary, but you just have to be able to glue them to the wreath.
-Use hot glue to attach flowers and filler plants to the stem of the wreath. (make sure the glue is really hot, or the flowers may fall off)

And there you have it! Your very own Floral Crowns to wear on a fun, naturey adventure! I hope you enjoyed the pictures, and found this mini-tutorial a little helpful!

Thankful Thursdays

Even though it is past midnight, it is still technically Thursday...

I am thankful to be done with my first Art History Midterm! (WOOO HOOO!!!!)
Feels so good to be done!!!
Seriously, history has never been my best subject, I hate memorizing dates and crap,  but I was actually able to get though that essay test! Basically, we had to prepare to write four essays, but depending on which two questions she gave us, we had to write just one of them for the actual test. I ended up memorizing around 13 different artworks of the Renaissance period, along with the name of their artist and what year it was made it. (That may not sound hard for some, but it was for me!) I am thankful that I was able to study so hard in the week I actually tried to study, and I am thankful I found the right information needed for the test! (Now I just have to wait to see what kind of grade I actually got...)

I am also thankful that I am basically not sick anymore. This week was stressful enough, but I have been sick, too, and unable to heal because I was not getting any
sleep!

Anyway, small post for today, because often small blessings make the biggest impact in our lives.

Fair-faring, friends!

Thankful Thursdays!

Those people I live with.

As part of my whole weekly posts 'n stuff, I want to do Thankful Thursdays! I think it would help everyone feel happier if they just took a moment to reflect on the good things that happening to them. It makes you more aware, ya know? Count your blessings!

So, ya, Thankful Thursdays. (This is not really a reference to Thanksgiving, and how it is always on a Thursday, but I am silly making a stab at alliteration.) This week I wanted to focus on my roommates!
We are all such hot babes, why don't guys notice this!?

These last two weeks have been very stressful, but I think my roommates have made them pretty fun, too. First, some background. I live in a apartment/dorm with three bedrooms and 4 1/2 other girls (I say 1/2, because the girl who I share a room with is never reeeeally here...ya...) At the beginning of the year, I felt a little lonely, really. Two of my roommates are cousins, two of them have been best friends since, like, birth or something - and then there is me. I came in here by myself and I have a hard time putting myself out there enough to really connect with new people. If I meet you, it will usually take me like a year to really connect and become good friends, it's just one of the weird things about me! Also, my family lives really close by, so between that and my lack of connection, I would just go home every weekend ASAP. I spent most of my time in my room, and just kind of kept to myself.

I am not really sure when, but at some point last semester, we just all clicked. The casual acquaints turned into real friends. Maybe because I am living with these people, the whole friendship process just kind of sped up. But, ya, now we are all super good friends and will actually hang out with each other, rather than just live with each other. (how often does this really happen with roommates?...seriously, I have no idea.)

It's really cool, 'cuz I also feel like I can connect with them all on different things. We can talk about really random bits of information that, like, no one really cares about, but somehow we both know about them, and enjoy learning knew things. We can make super stupid joke and make fun food together. We can be super rude and sassy to each other, and have really good comeback. And we can just talk to each other, about like pretty deep stuff. But above all, they think I am just soooooo funny. Seriously, they all worship me, 'cuz I am literally the most hilarious person they have ever met. (am I right, guys? You know I am right ;)

So how this all pertains to this past week, well, we just had fun. So last week, one of my roommates was expecting her mission call to come in the mail, and we were all dying waiting for it! Everyday we would check the mail, and it still wasn't showing up. Until on friday, I was home alone, when I got a text from her telling someone to go check the mail (just how she'd texted us every day) Realizes I was the only one there, I ran to get the key for the mailbox. I opened it with a silent prayer, 'cuz at this point we had learned enough patience. And . . . it still wasn't there.

Jk! It totally was! After, I momentary happy dance, I tried being all funny by sending her a picture and posting it on Facebook, but she didn't even see the picture until after she got home. But that day we opened her call, and it was the sweetest thing ever! She is going Brazil, how great is that!? She was a little nervous it was going to be state-side because the package was so thin (like, Provo Utah! Woohoo...) but I am really glad she is happy, and I know she will be amazing.

That Sunday was also her birthday, so on Saturday we all went bowling. The first game we played was Skittles Bowling, were before each turn we picked a different skittle, and the color determined how we would roll the ball. It was way fun, but waaaay hard, and I lost. They next game we played was just normal, and I got second! (I had to let the birth girl win, didm't I?)

After bowling, we walking about fifteen minutes and got pizza - cuz when you live on a university campus, with no car, you go to extremes just to get away. While waiting for pizza, two of us walked an extra half mile to a red box, just so we could watch the Giver! - and it was all worth it.

Anyway, my roommates are just super wonderful people. I still go home a lot on the weekends (my parents have TV, so...) but we, like, hang and do random stuff. Right now, we are sitting around, listening to ABBA, and eating some crazy Mexican food. I am thankful for these months I have spent with them, and the friendships I have made, hopeful it will last long past our college years.

Fair-faring, friends!
