Easter Weekend

So this past weekend was pretty fun. I realized I have been focusing too much on school to really give you guys a real update on my life (Cuz I know that is what you are all waiting for!) But ya, this weekend was full of a few of my favorite things: LDS General Conference and Easter...

Conference weekend is always wonderful, cuz you get to just stay home with your family and listen to the peaceful voices of the general authorities. I really need to get back into the habit of taking notes while I am listening, but I tend to use that time more to draw and stuff like that. This year, many fun things and inspirational talks happened during conference, but I think I am going to have to wait until they are published to really sit down and enjoy them (let's hope and pray I remember to do that...)

Still, this was also EASTER weekend, and I love Easter! It is my 3rd favorite holiday! (right behind Christmas and Halloween for obvious reasons.) Literally, I could dye and design eggs for a living, I just love it so much! Usually, I hollow out about half of my eggs and use melted wax and all that to make fun designs, but this year, my mother said none of that. Still, with good reason, because they left on a trip today and did not want to have to deal with the mess it would have left. But that did not stop my scorn.

My sister got mad at me and told me I was not allowed to put cool designs on hard-boiled eggs, because they would have to be destroyed, but literally, I wasn't really trying to - but I think I made some of the coolest eggs I have ever done this year.

Besides the special egg I painted last year - it will take a lot to top that one...

This was acrylic on a normal sized egg, and
I think it took me most of that week to complete.
I made it as a gift for a friend's family.

Still, given my minimal time and resources, I think I did pretty dang good this year.

These first ones are based of the show Over the Garden Wall. It was this mini series that came out last fall on Cartoon Network, and my sisters and I just fell in love! It is so pretty and funny and down right creepy. But we love it, I kind'a want to go watch it now.

< These are the four main characters of the show. I dyed the eggs first and than did the detail in black Sharpie.

Also, I made this music video with my friends about Over the Garden Wall. I promise it is not as lame as I just made it sound, guys. It is just cuts of the show set to the song C'mon by Panic! At the Disco. So, ya, you should watch it here

These are just two shots that happen in the show >
I used crayon as a resist and than dyed the eggs before adding the detail in with Sharpies and Crayola markers.

But, I have to say, these last two are the ones I am most proud of this year.

Here are some progress shots, cuz this is my blog and I can bombard you with pictures, as always!

So, I dyed them teal before rubbing off some the the lighter parts and adding in the marker.

And there you have it! These are literally my favorite eggs I have made ever! I was very pleasantly surprised with how they turned out. Next year, I think I want to make ALL the Percy Jackson and Hero's of Olympus book covers!!! I just have to make sure I actually hollow them out first....

Sometimes I think I draw the Percy Jackson books too much.
But than I think,
Ha! Not Possible!
As soon as all the NEW book covers come out in hard cover, I am buying them all!
Still, nothing can beat the memories and feels that come along with the originals...

Fair-faring, friends! I hope you had a wonderful weekend!
